Shadow Shot Sunday #28

Isn't she a beautiful little girl!
Brett calls her Madame Lash but her name is Kitten, not very original I know but, when I got her about 15 years ago I couldn't decide on a name and kept calling her Kitten with the intentions of giving her a beautiful name and of course it never happened, so, please let me introduce to you our beautiful girl Kitten.
The blinds were casting beautiful shadows over her and I couldn't resist taking her picture.

Banana Choc Chip Muffins

One of my favorite recipes to make for the kids, very, very easy and I seem to always have 1 or 2 blackish bananas left over at the end of the week. So soft, sweet and perfect to make muffins with.
The ingredients are :
1 large ripe banana
1 cup milk
1/4 cup melted butter/margarine
1 1/2 cup self raising flour (I use W/Meal S/R flour)
1/2 Cup caster sugar
3/4 cup choc bits (I don't use the whole lot in the mix, I leave some to sprinkle on top)

In a mixing bowl, mash the banana, mix with the milk, egg and melted margarine.
Stir in the flour, sugar and choc bits until just combined.
Spoon the mixture into well greased muffin tins.
Bake in oven 190degrees Celsius or 370 degrees Fahrenheit for approx 20 minutes.

Delish!

Card Makers Tea Party

Brett's sister Leesa and I had a nice morning out at Tomorrow's Memories on Friday making these gorgeous cards at the Card Makers Tea Party. We also shared delicious homemade scones with jam and cream during the class, how spoilt were we! These cards remind me of a tea party invitation, very cute!
I have also joined in the Jingle Bells Workshop at the Kim Archer site and I am thoroughly enjoying myself. I am learning so many new skills, my only frustration is not having the time to do it all NOW! These little Christmas cards are my take on one of the lessons, and I really love them, one is a little funky and the other more traditional but both a lot of fun to make.
Go have a look at Kim Archer's website. There is so much to see and learn with a couple of freebie classes as well.
I've also made some gorgeous little felt flowers as well but cant upload the pic yet as I am sending them out for a secret santa pressie so want to keep it a secret for a little while longer.
Its been a very lazy Sunday, hope yours has been relaxing as well :)

New Appliances

Its been a big week in our house with both the dishwasher and the fridge breaking down. These are the replacement products - don't they look great!
The fridge is massive and has so much room, its incredible. The stainless steel also makes the kitchen look a lot more modern and of course will make it look more appealing when the house is put up for sale. The only problem is I am constantly wiping finger prints of the handles and doors trying to keep it all looking nice and clean, I will probably get over that after a while :).
The dishwasher is a single door dishwasher rather than the double drawer that we previously had. I had always felt that the double drawers were not much good with a large family so I will be putting that to the test now.

Shadow Shot Sunday #27

This Shadow Shot was taken on holidays in Exmouth, Western Australia. The beaches in Exmouth are gorgeous and the wildlife prolific, its an amazing place.

Saw this on another blog and thought it well worth sharing.

An update on the babies.

Well, the babies are now around 2 weeks old and all are growing tremendously. All 11 are eating well, spending lots of time exploring the back yard and driving their poor mamma nuts!

Max (our dog) is enjoying them as well and tends to be a little overprotective at times which annoys Spunky Girl, being the ever so protective mother she moves him on when he over steps the mark.

You may have noticed Spunky Girl has no feathers on her neck, there is a good mix of babies like their Dad with feathers all up their neck and some like their Mother but I think they are all just so beautiful :)

The best thing is they are all alive and well, I was a little worried we might loose some being such a novice at this chicken stuff but even our little runt has come along way and of course I am spoiling them with porridge for brekkie and lots of their favorite treat - watermelon!

Photobucket
I've been spending a little time in the kitchen this week and one of my favorite treats for the boys for their lunch boxes is these very easy chocolate truffles.
The recipe is ever so easy. All you need is a packet of milk arrowroot biscuits, 1 can of sweetened condensed milk, 1/2 tbsp cocoa and around a cup of desiccated cocoa. I place all the biscuits in a large lunch bag and crush them into a fine mixture by rolling a rolling pin over the bag. Place the crumbled biscuits into a mixing bowl and then add the can of condensed milk to the bowl and the cocoa. Mix all the ingredients up and then roll it into balls, roll the balls into the coconut to coat the outside and then refrigerate a while. Yummy chocolate truffles, I love 'em!

We have BABIES!

Our beautiful chicken Spunkster has had babies, 11 to be exact and we are all so excited. She is being such a caring and protective Mother and with 11 babies following her every move she is being extremely patient as well. All babies are eating and drinking well and have strong chirps on them! Brett is making them a special hen house as she has nested under the compost heap so its not the nicest of spots to bring up a family. Max our dog is watching over the babies as well making sure nothing bothers them!

Its a feeding frenzy! They are simply the cutest babies ever :0)

This little one is still a little gunky, we think this gorgeous baby only hatched in the morning!
