Shadow Shot Sunday #56

This picture was taken on our recent visit to New Zealand. We were walking around the Buried Village near Blue Lake when we can across this gorgeous flower growing out of no where on the side of a hill, stunning!

Son, I am Proud of You

One of my favorite pictures from our New Zealand holiday. The title reads "so much like a man", "I just have to say" and the tag reads "Son, I am proud of you".
I have used a mask and some glimmer mist on the background card stock, there is a vintage book page, some raffia across the bottom and I have incorporated some vintage doily across the bottom.

Some of my Latest Creations

I was lucky enough to be a part of a vintage swap which was hosted on The Boxx. I managed to find some time yesturday to have a play and made some Christmas Cards.
This card has a stamped and embossed image which was then coloured with water colour pencils and adhered to some red cardstock. The piece of red cardstock behind the Merry Christmas title was put through my Big Shot which gives it that lovely texture.

This card was my favorite. I placed a vintage music sheet on the base and stamped some scrolls on the top corner. The vintage cherub is from the gorgeous pack of vintage goodies I got from my swap partner and I made some torn flowers at the bottom.

ATC Background Swap

Some ATC's I have been working on for a background swap.
Firstly we did the same backgrounds for 9 ATC's. We then sent them in to have a background from each participant sent back which we then had to decorate.
This has been my first ATC swap and was a lot of fun, this art stuff is SO COOL!

I thought I would try something a little different, this bird cage is made out of florist wire and has a mixture of beads threaded on in parts and has some gold rub and buff in places. The german scrap on the edges was white and with a little play with the paints and some really cool colours like interference oxide green (such a cool name), ultramarine violet, cerulean blue all in the Golden Brand and metallic pure gold in the Folk Art brand it turned out great!

One of my favorites, and I just cant get enough of this Stampotique range of grungy and funky stamps. I just love them! I only have 2 in my stash but will be getting more for sure. See the little silver fly in the corner, he was stamped and then embossed, something I learnt in Kelsey's class at Scraptivate, so cool.

Have you seen the new Dark Room Door range of robot stamps and images. I made some cards for a card swap in a boy theme which I promise I will take a pic of and load up, these are so much fun to play with.

Earth Laughs in flowers, when I read this quote I new it would be perfect to use for this ATC.

There are more but I will load them up later, trying to clean my mess of the kitchen bench so we can actually eat there instead tip toeing around my art stash.

The view from our front door.

On Tuesday afternoon while cooking dinner and trying desperately to get the kids to do their homework we suddenly heard some huge noises outside. We all went out to investigate and this is what we were greeted with.

These guys were coming and going to and from in about a minute and half, just incredible. Luckily no-one was hurt, no homes lost and even though this was going on for over 2 hours it could have been a lot worse.

Christening

On Sunday our gorgeous little Princess Livie was christened and I was given the hnonour of being one of her Godparents.
We had a fabulous day and Olivia looked absolutely stunning in her fairy dress.
It was a very special day and we had a chance to catch up with family that only happens but a few times a year.
Here are a few snapshots of our day.
The gorgeous and very special Princess Liv in her beautiful fairy outfit and looking very glam!
My very bestest friend and the new addition to the family little Molly.
The Spunk rat himself, Darc!
The Dancing Queens, partying the afternoon away :D

Walking the Dogs!

I just wanted to share with you my Saturday morning job. I walk the dogs at the local dog shelter and I took my camera today to take some pics. They are all just such beautiful dogs and so enjoy the company and attention :D

They were all just so excited and love their walks on Saturday morning. It was hard to get them settled to take a great pic but I think they are adorable anyways.

Shadow Shot Sunday #40

This shadow shot was taken back in January.
We live in the foothills of Perth and unfortunately have had some very bad fires around in the more bushy areas.
We have a lake across the road from where we live and this lake is utilised by the water bombers that are fighting fires close by.
You can see the shadow of the helicopter just behind it as it comes down to fill up with water. This particular day we had 2 water bombers using the lake as you can see below with some more pics from that day.

Today, Sunday February 22nd has been declared a National Day of Mourning in respect to the Victoria BushFires that have absolutely devastated so many lives, destroyed communities and killed 1000's of animals and wildlife. The fires that these people were fighting here across the road from my home were tiny compared to the fires in Victoria so if you have a moment today please spend that time in reflection and prayer for those that have lost their lives and also remembering the amazing people who have put their own lives on the line fighting these horrendous fires.

Shadow Shot Sunday #39

I have really missed posting SSS.
Even though I havent been posting it was always on my mind and I have some great pics ready to share.
This picture was taken in Dwellingup while camping over the New Year period with Brett and my boys. It was quite hot but very relaxing and the kids had a great time swimming, riding their bikes and playing with other children around the camp. I have a lot more pictures to share of the camping holiday so more to come soon :D

I am the New Year

Its been a while, for one reason or another I just haven't felt like updating the blog or sharing life's moments.

So now it's time....

I have had this poem saved for quite some time to share here, so as a start to posts for 2009 I would like to share this with you.

Mx

I Am The New Year

I am unused, unspotted, without blemish. I stretch before you three hundred sixty-five days long.

I will present each day in its turn, a new leaf in the Book of Life, for you to place upon it your imprint.

It remains for you to make of me what you will; if you write with firm, steady strokes, my pages will be a joy to look
upon when the next New Year comes. If the pen falters, if uncertainty or doubt or sin mar the page, it will become a day to remember with pain.

I am the New Year. During each hour of the three hundred sixty-five days, I will give you sixty minutes that have never known the use of man. White and pure, I present them; it remains for you to fill them with sixty
jewelled seconds of love, hope, endeavour, patience, and trust in God.

I am the New Year. I am here - but once past, I can never be recalled. Make me your best!
