MEATLESS MONDAY (even though it is Saturday)

I think I may have already mentioned this but I bought this awesome cookbook a few weeks ago.

There are some delicious recipes in there,  both for meat eaters and veggie lovers just like me.
Being the only vegetarian in the family,  I really love to cook dishes
that will get me through a few days.
And now that Perth is cooling down a little,
this was a must do!

Nothing beats a bowl of delicious ratatouille with a sprinkling (maybe even a handful) of parmesan.

Super duper easy and really a dish where you can use up all sorts of veggies out of the fridge.
I cut up an eggplant, a zucchini, some cherry tomatoes, a red capsicum, and had a little bit of pumpkin there I wanted to use up, so threw that in as well.
I cubed the eggplant, threw it into a bowl, added some olive oil and coated the eggplant with the oil.
Laid the eggplant out on a baking tray, with some cracked pepper over the top  and
roasted it for around 20 minutes.
Cut up an onion, and crushed up around 4 cloves of garlic, threw it into a deep fry pan and cooked it for a little while, until soft and fragrant.
Threw the rest of the veggies in, cooked them for a wee while and then added a can of tomatoes.
Rinsed about a cup of quinoa, popped that into the pot with a little extra water.
Let it cook a little longer, and once the quinoa and veg was just about done,
I added the roasted eggplant and voila.

Delicious ratatouille!

IT'S CROCHET SEASON!

At long last the weather is starting to cool down.
I love, love, love this time of the year.
And,  I have managed to pick up the crochet bug!!!

I love catching the crochet bug!

Especially when champagne chasers are involved.

And a bit of AFL footy

Bring it on I say!

HELL RAISING?

No hell raising here,
but seed raising was the order of the day.

There were a few jobs in the morning to be attended!
James owed me $15.00 so I put him to work.

Fertilising the vegie garden was a must.

And Planting seeds was next on the To-Do List!
We had a special visitor who was keen to help.

It's serious business choosing seeds to plant.
And of course the popsticks used to tag the trays of seeds needed special things drawn on them.

All in all it was very productive!

But of course there has to be some fun along the way.

And taking the trolley 4wheel driving through the gardens was an absolute must!

The tomatoes have started producing, yummo!

The yellow  flowers on the cucumber plants are gorgeous.

And I cant wait until I can start picking leaves from this little sucker!

Fun Times With My Too Cool Kid!

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

Life is Apples!

I went shopping on the weekend!
Did I already mention that?
Hehe
I think I did!
I had an AWESOME day (just a little reminder)
I picked up some very cute, cheap little fabric scrap packs while at Calico & Ivy.

And armed with a gorgeous wrist pincushion my very clever Mum made.

It was screaming out to be christened.

I made this....

It is just the sweetest.
Gifted this to me dear Mum.
But have more scraps cut out and ready to go for a cute apple pincushion for me.

Maybe I have mentioned this before and maybe not but I am pincushion MAD at the moment.
I want to hang pincushions from the ceiling and display them on every shelf in my art room.
I have also been pinning pincushions like crazy...

Things Are Happening In Our Neighbourhood!

Before........

After.......

Just so bare.
We are still getting used to it.
The Council has told us new trees will be planted.
I hope so.

The are piles of wood chips all along the street.

But there are still some residents who really don't care!

An Amazing Day!

Little did I know that when I posted this on facebook on Saturday morning,
Source: imgfave.com via Michelle on Pinterest

my day really was going to turn out like this......
I have been desperate to visit a shop called Calico&Ivy for ages......A few loads of washing down and the kitchen sink clean and tidy and I was off.
What an awesome shop, so much colour, so much texture, I was in heaven.

At first I did not know where to start.

And then I did not know where to finish.

An awesome bag of loot and then a delicious lunch to finish.

I can't wait to go back.
